On
Saturday 19th May Julie Murphy, Becky Kirvan,
Amanda Macczak, Nicola Parker and Shelly
Taunt made their way to Swansea Air Base
where they handed over a cheque for £9,254.00
The
money was raised through the sales of the
Gravel Girls calendar. Nicola wanted
to say thank you to the Welsh Air Ambulance
for saving her life and did this by coming
up with the idea of the Gravel Girls calender.
The calendar received much press and media
coverage and also helped to raise the charities
awareness, as well as much needed funds.
Before
the girls had arrived the Helicopter crew
had been called out to a road traffic accident
and whilst the girls were waiting
for them to return, they had the chance
to meet the organising Team, fundraisers
and other people behind the scenes. A lot
of hard work goes towards the upkeep of
the Helicopters and it was great to
know that the girls had been able to contribute
towards this good cause that saves so many
lives.
Robert
Reid (the late Richard Burn's Co-Driver)
was also there to hand over a cheque from
RBF, the Richard Burns Foundation.
After
an hour of tea and biscuits, the Helicopter
arrived, and in true style, gave an impressive
flyover...(show off's!). It was great to
meet the people that do such a fantastic
job and this has to be said for all rescue
crews from all over the country that makes
our sport a safer place.
Thanks to
everyone who bought the calendar and helped
us raise such an impressive total.
