Based in Dolgellau the opening round of the 2005 British Rally Championship took place on classic Welsh stages such as Dyfi, Hafren and Myherin. Austin MacHale won the international event in his Ford Focus WRC from Seb Ling and Jon Ingram. The "Stars of the Future" rally was won by James Wozencroft (car 102). The supporting Panaround and Gwynedd rallies were won by Ian Joel and Wynn Humphreys respectively.
